We investigate different instances where the available computer-generated empirical evidence concerning certain properties of cycles in cubic graphs either appears to clash with theory or, at best, is counterintuitive. Perhaps the most interesting of these involves a conjecture readily suggested by the data but for which a counterexample has been proved to exist. However, no such counterexample has yet been found.
