Positive spline operators and orthogonal splines (Q5903953): Difference between revisions

The author studies a spline operator of the form \(U_{nk}f(x)=\sum^{n- 1}_{i=-k}<M_{ik},f>N_{ik}(x)\) where \(M_{ik}\) and \(N_{ik}\) are the B-spline and the normalized B-spline, respectively, of degree k. He proves some convergence results in \(L^ p\) and shows that the eigenfunctions of these operators are orthogonal splines which generalize the classical Legendre polynomials.
