The author extends a theorem by \textit{A. Yu. Levin} [Dokl. Akad. Nauk SSSR 783-786 (1960; Zbl 0102.078)] and uses its new version to derive results concerning the existence of oscillatory solutions for a certain type of nonlinear integro-differential equation, under a number of assumptions on the linear and nonlinear parts.
