    Complete lattices form an equational class of universal algebras with a proper class of infinitary operations. The author shows that they admit naturally defined operations which are not induced by a term. This strengthens the result that free complete lattices do not exist and the desired operation is constructed as a join of terms used by Hales for the proof of this fact. All such operations are described.
