For the ``quantum'' deformation of \(\mathfrak{sl}(n;{\mathbb C})\), i.e. for the Hopf algebra \(U_ q(\mathfrak{sl}(n;{\mathbb C}))\) an explicit basis is constructed. This basis is the same as for the ``usual'' \(U(\mathfrak{sl}(n;{\mathbb C}))\) if \(q^ 8\neq 1\) [cf. the similar statement in \textit{M. Rosso}, Commun. Math. Phys. 124, 307--318 (1989; Zbl 0694.17006), where the exceptional role of the 8th root of unity is missed]. For \(q\) such that \(q^ 8=1\) the algebra \(U_ q(\mathfrak{sl}(n;{\mathbb C}))\) is not spanned by the ``usual'' basis; one must add, as is shown, an even power of root vectors corresponding to simple roots. Remark. This property is remarkably alike to that of simple Lie superalgebras over an algebraically closed field of characteristic 2. In the last section a P.B.W. theorem for quantum \(\text{o}(5)\) is formulated.
