Fuzzy semigroups were recently considered by \textit{G. Gerla} [Rend. Mat. Appl., VII. Ser. 5, 19-28 (1985; Zbl 0631.20048)] and \textit{B. T. Lerner} [J. Math. Anal. Appl. 134, 306-311 (1988; Zbl 0654.22001)]. Based on the set of regular elements of a semigroup the author introduces and examines four notions of fuzzy regular semigroup. The considered fuzzy semigroups are characterized by their \(\alpha\)-cuts and strong \(\alpha\)-cuts.
