A one parameter quantum deformation \(S_{\mu}L(2,{\mathbb{C}})\) of SL(2,\({\mathbb{C}})\) is defined and investigated. The main problem of the general \(C^*\)-algebraic approach to quantum groups proposed by Woronowicz is that it works for compact quantum groups only. For the noncompact case we have to deal with non-unital \(C^*\)-algebras which causes difficulties. In the paper under consideration this problem is avoided by applying the dual version of Drinfeld's double group construction to the compact quantum group \(S_{\mu}U(2)\). The finite dimensional representations of the resulting quantum Lorentz group are studied. The existence of non-smooth representations is pointed out. Finally, the bicovariant bimodules over \(S_{\mu}U(2)\) are classified using the correspondence between the bicovariant bimodules over the compact quantum group and the representations of the double group built over it.
