The set of isomorphism classes of vector bundles of fixed rank and degree on an irreducible curve satisfying a certain technical condition (stability) has a natural structure of an algebraic variety. This variety is called the moduli space of semistable vector bundles. It is irreducible, albeit non-compact, but it may be compactified in a natural way. - When the curve is reduced but not necessarily irreducible, the notion of moduli space still makes sense [cf. \textit{C. S. Seshadri}, ``Fibrés vectoriels sur les courbes algébriques'', Astérisque 96 (1982; Zbl 0517.14008)]. In this paper we describe the components of this moduli space in the case the curve is tree-like and has no rational irreducible components. It turns out that the number of components of the moduli space depends only on the number of components of the given curve. Each component of the moduli space may be described in terms of moduli spaces of vector bundles on each one of the components of the curve.
