A number of sufficient or necessary conditions for the solvability of the classical additive and multiplicative inverse eigenvalue problems have already been found. In this paper sufficient conditions for the solvability of the following inverse problems (AH) and (MH) for Hermitian matrices are presented. Let \(H_n\) be the set of all \(n\times n\) Hermitian matrices, and \(R^n_+ = (x_1,x_2,\ldots,x_n)\in\mathbb R^n:\) \(x_ i\geq 0\), \(i=1,2,\ldots,n\). Given that \(A=(a_{ij}) \in H_n\) and \(\lambda = (\lambda_1,\lambda_2,\ldots,\lambda_ n)\in \mathbb R^n\), the first problem is (AH): To find a real diagonal matrix \(X\) such that the spectrum of \(A+X\) is the set \(\{\lambda_1,\lambda_2,\ldots,\lambda_n\}\). Under the additional assumption that the given Hermitian matrix \(A\) is positive semidefinite the second problem is (MH): To find a nonnegative diagonal matrix \(X\) such that the spectrum of \(XA\) is the set \(\{\lambda_1,\lambda_2,\ldots,\lambda_ n\}\). Six examples are given to illustrate that the conditions given in this paper are not overlapping with those given by other authors previously.
