The authors obtain conditions under which various aging properties, such as the increasing failure rate (IFR), the increasing failure rate average (IFRA), and the new better than used (NBU), are inherited from a distribution function by a related weighted distribution. The authors also find conditions under which some stochastic orders between two distribution functions, such as the hazard rate order, the likelihood ratio order, and the dispersive order, are preserved by related weighted distributions.
