Let \(\mathfrak{g}\) be a symmetrizable Kac-Moody Lie algebra and \(U^+\) be its positive part. Demazure modules are \(U^+\)-submodules generated by extremal vectors in irreducible highest weight \(\mathfrak{g}\)-modules corresponding to dominant integral highest weights. In the paper under review that author gives a geometric realization of Demazure modules using certain subvarieties of Nakajima quiver varieties. In particular, there is a natural geometric characterization of extremal weights in integrable highest weight \(\mathfrak{g}\)-modules. Furthermore, it turns out that Lusztig's semicanonical bases is compatible with Demazure filtration. In the case of \(\widehat{\mathfrak{sl}_2}\) the varieties describing Demazure modules are given by imposing some nilpotency conditions. In the latter case the author also gives a combinatorial description of Demazure crystals.
