The author proves a modular branching rule for the cyclotomic Hecke algebras which generalizes Kleshchev and Brundan's modular branching rules for the symmetric groups and the Hecke algebras of type \(A\). Explicitly, it asserts that the socle of the \(i\)-restriction of a simple module can be obtained by applying the \(i\)-lowering operator to the corresponding Kleshchev multipartition which labels this simple module.
