    The authors consider the Falkner-Skan equation \[ f'''(\eta) + f(\eta)f''(\eta)+\lambda[1-(f')^2 (\eta)] = 0, \;\eta \in (0,\infty), \] subject to the boundary condition \(f(0) = f'(0) =0, \;f'(\infty) =1,\) and the side condition \(0 < f'(\eta) <1, \;\eta \in (0,\infty).\) Taking into account the equivalence between the Falkner-Skan equation and a certain singular integral equation, they study the compactness of the set of velocity functions \(f'\) and of the set of shear stress functions \(f''\) in \(BC(\mathbb{R}_{+}),\) the Banach space of continuous bounded functions defined on \(\mathbb{R}_{+}\) with the norm \(\| f \| = \sup \;\{ | f(x) | : \;x \in \mathbb{R}_{+} \} .\)
