A function \(\varphi:G\to H\) between topological groups is called convergence preserving if for any Cauchy multipliable sequence \((g_n)\) in \(G\) its image \((\varphi(g_n))\) is Cauchy multipliable in \(H\). A sequence \((g_n)\) is called Cauchy multipliable if the sequence of products \(p_n=g_1\cdots g_n\), \(n\in\mathbb N\), is Cauchy in the sense that for any neighborhood \(U\) of the neutral element there is a number \(N\) so large that \(p_m^{-1}p_n\in U\) for all \(n, m\geq N\). The author establishes some properties of convergence preserving functions between topological groups. A typical result is Corollary 2.17 saying that for a topological group \(G\) with Fréchet square and for a topological group \(H\) without small subgroups, a function \(\varphi:G\to H\) is convergence preserving if and only if \(\varphi\) is a sequentially continuous homomorphism in some neighborhood of the neutral element of \(G\).
