The authors suggest a fully automatic grid generator for 3D domains of arbitrary shape based on the Delaunay approach. The method starts from a boundary mesh and iteratively creates internal points by an advancing front technique. An element-wise distribution function is used as a quality criterion. The insertion of the internal points is taken care of by a Delaunay kernel procedure. The final mesh quality is tuned by edge resp. element quality improvement, mesh regularization, and optimal vertex smoothing.
