Let \(H\) be the one-parameter Hecke algebra associated to a finite Weyl group \(W\) defined over a commutative ground ring in which ``bad primes'' for \(W\) are invertible. Using the Kazhdan-Lusztig basis of \(H\) and Lusztig's \(a\)-function, the author shows in this paper that \(H\) is a cellular algebra in the sense of Graham and Lehrer. Previously, it was known that the Hecke algebras of type \(A\) and type \(B\) are cellular over an arbitrary commutative ground ring. By the work of \textit{C. Pallikaros} [J. Algebra 169, No. 1, 20-48 (1994; Zbl 0833.20019)] and the work of the reviewer [Manuscr. Math. 108, No. 4, 409-430 (2002; Zbl 1016.20002)], it was also known that the Hecke algebras of type \(D_n\) are cellular when certain separation conditions are satisfied.
