Modified iterative methods for consistent linear systems are presented. Acclerated overrelaxation (AOR) and successive overrelaxation (SOR) iterative schemes are applied to preconditioned linear systems and two theorems are provided to improve the convergence rates of these iterative schemes. The methods proposed may be implemented to a wider class of linear systems. A numerical example illustrating the results obtained is given.
