It is proved that if a finite group \(G\) is a product \(G=AB\) of a nilpotent subgroup \(A\) and a subgroup \(B\) with non-trivial centre, then \(G\) has a non-trivial Abelian normal subgroup. The proof relies on the classification of all maximal factorizations of finite almost simple groups [\textit{M. W. Liebeck, C. E. Praeger} and \textit{J. Saxl}, Mem. Am. Math. Soc. 432 (1990; Zbl 0703.20021)], which in turn is based on the classsification of finite simple groups. Among other tools the authors use the information on the components of the Kegel-Gruenberg prime graph.
