The boundary element method (BEM)-finite element method (FEM) non-overlapping domain decomposition method is analyzed. The convergence analysis of this algorithm is based on a separation of the solution into propagating and evanescent modes, which is different from the one used for coercive problems. Here, the author exemplifies this in the case of circular cylindrical geometries where the derivations can be based on properties of Bessel functions. The index and the contrast of the material are assumed to be constant in this proof.
