The paper deals with the diagonal Padé approximants of \(\log((1+ x)/(1- x))\) for a class of matrix Lie groups. The authors analyze the conditioning of these approximants and show that they are structure preserving. Also, a new algorithm for the Briggs-Padé method is presented.
