This paper concerns the structural stability of a hyperbolic periodic orbit of an ordinary differential equation in \(\mathbb{R}^M\). This periodic orbit is an invariant circle for the time-\(T\)-map defined by the ODE in a neighbourhood of the orbit, and the time-\(T\)-map is an embedding of this neighbourhood in \(\mathbb{R}^M\). In the space of such embeddings it is observed that an invariant circle persists under perturbation of the time-\(T\)-map to any nearby embedding. As an application it is shown that any tangential solution scheme has an invariant circle, locally, and a related result is established for computational solution schemes. These results are claimed as consequences of more general results about invariant manifolds. Only outline proofs are given.
