This work is concerned with the numerical solution of nonlinear time fractional diffusion equation with Caputo derivative. The proposed scheme approximates the Caputo derivative by the well-known \(L1\)-type formua (on a graded mesh), applies a direct discontinuous Galerkin (DDG) method on a uniform mesh, and then employs the Newton linearization method for the nonlinear term. The authors derive optimal \(L^2(\Omega)\) error estimates, and present several numerical experiments.
