If a compact smooth \(n\)-manifold \(M\) is mapped by a \(C^1\)-immersion \(F\) in \(\mathbb R^{n+2}\) so that \(F(M)\) is part of a non-degenerate hyperquadric, then there are two distinct points on the image \(F(M)\) with parallel tangent planes. This assertion is proved by the authors without further assumptions on differentiability or genericity.
