The authors investigate the abstract wave equation \[ u_{tt} + Au = \varepsilon A_1 u + h(t), \] where \(A\) is a linear bounded self-adjoint operator with eigenvalues \(\lambda_1 < \lambda_2 < \ldots \rightarrow \infty\), \(X\) is a Banach space, \(Y\) is a Hilbert space with inner product \(\langle \cdot, \cdot\rangle\), \(A: X\rightarrow Y\), and \(h\) is a \(T\)-periodic function of \(t \in R\). The operator \(A_1\) in the perturbation term is a bounded linear operator. By applying the Vishik-Lyusternik method, they find conditions for the bifurcation of a weak \(T\)-periodic solution from the point \(\varepsilon=0\) in the form of part of a Laurent series in powers of \(\varepsilon\) with finitely many terms with negative powers of \(\varepsilon\). Finally they provide a method for the iterative construction of the bifurcating solution.
