\textit{A. Lupaş} [Prepr., ``Babeş-Bolyai'' Univ., Fac. Math., Res. Semin. 9, 85--92 (1987; Zbl 0684.41014)] introduced a nice generalization of the classical Bernstein's operators based on \(q\)-calculus. He investigated some approximation and shape preserving properties of this Bernstein-type operator. The present paper deals with the investigation of new properties of the Lupaş's operator. The main results of the paper are the very interesting convergence properties of Lupaş's operator.
