A compact solvmanifold (nilmanifold) is a coset space \(M=G/\Gamma\) of a connected solvable (nilpotent) Lie group by a co-compact closed subgroup \(\Gamma\). If \(G\) is nilpotent then a result of A. Mal'cev asserts that \(\Gamma\) can be taken to be a lattice. The objective of this paper is to extend the authors' earlier work [Sci. China, Ser. A 51, No.~3, 351--360 (2008; Zbl 1158.55003)] on periodic points of selfmaps of 3-dimensional nilmanifolds to 3-dimensional solvmanifolds. In order to employ the same techniques, the authors only consider solvmanifolds of the form \(\text{Sol}/\Gamma\) where \(\Gamma\) is a co-compact lattice of the 3-dimensional solvable Lie group \(\text{Sol}\). Since every such lattice is a semi-direct product \(\Gamma=\mathbb Z^2 \rtimes \mathbb Z\) where \(\mathbb Z^2\) is fully-invariant, every homomorphism \(\theta:\Gamma \to \Gamma\) gives rise to a linearization matrix \(F=\text{diag}(\hat \theta, \bar \theta)\) where \(\hat \theta:\mathbb Z^2 \to \mathbb Z^2\) and \(\bar \theta :\mathbb Z \to \mathbb Z\) are the induced maps. The authors compute the Nielsen type periodic point numbers \(NP_n(f)\) and \(N\Phi_n(f)\) and completely determine the homotopy minimal periods \(\text{HPer}(f)\) for any \(f:\text{Sol}/\Gamma \to \text{Sol}/\Gamma\) using \(F\). In doing so, they show that the linearization matrix \(F\) for certain type of \(3\)-solvmanifolds need not have integer entries, correcting an assertion (Proposition 4.3) made by \textit{J. Jezierski, J. Kedra} and \textit{W. Mazantowicz} [Topology Appl. 144, No.~1--3, 29--49 (2004; Zbl 1057.55001)].
