Noncommutative scalar field theory on rank one symplectic symmetric space \(\mathbb{D}=G/K\), \(G=\text{SU}(1,n)\), \(K=U(n)\) is investigated and noncommutative \(\varphi_4^{*4}\)-theory is shown to be renormalizable. The proof is done according to previous works of the renormalizability of noncommutative \(\varphi_4^{*4}\)-theory on flat space \textit{H. Grosse} and \textit{R. Wulkenhaar} [Commun. Math. Phys. 256, No.~2, 305--374 (2005; Zbl 1075.82005)] and \textit{R. Gurau, J. Magnen, V. Rivsseau} and \textit{F. Vignes-Tourneret} [Commun. Math. Phys. 267, No. 2, 515--542 (2006; Zbl 1113.81101)]. Noncommutative field theory on \(\mathbb{D}\) is described by the Moyal product on \(\mathbb{D}\). In \S2, Moyal product on \(\mathbb{D}\) is explained according to \textit{P. Bieliavsky} [Deformation quantization for actions of the affine group, \url{arXiv:0709.1110}]. Precisely, to define the Moyal product, a Lie algebra \({\mathfrak s}\), which is diffeomorphic to \(\mathbb{D}\) is introduced by using Iwasawa decomposition of \(G\). Its associated simply conneted Lie algebra \(\mathbb{S}\) has a symplectic left invariant affine connection. By using the associated geometry of this connection, the Moyal product \(u*v\), \(u,v\in L^2 (\mathbb{S})\) is defined. Here \(L^2(\mathbb{S})\) is the space of square integrable functions on \(\mathbb{S}\) by the Haar measure (Th. 2.1, Prop. 2.2). \(\mathbb{S}\) is a one dimensional split extension of a Heisenberg group. By using this property, the Laplacian \(\Delta\) of \(\mathbb{S}\) is computed in \S3.2. Then to adding a marginal harmonic potential (vulcanization), the Langmann-Szabo dual \(\Delta^{\text{RS}}\) of \(\Delta\) is computed [Prop. 3.3. cf. \textit{E. Langmann} and \textit{R. J. Szabo}, Phys. Lett. B 533, No.~1--2, 168--177 (2002; Zbl 0994.81116)]. The action of the scalar field theory \((\varphi_4^{*4}\)-theory) on \(\mathbb{D}\) is given by \[ S=\int \varphi\Delta^{\text{LS}} \varphi+V(\varphi)_*, \] where \(V\) is some \(*\) polynomial in \(\varphi\) (\S4, (11)). The \(p\)-point vertex kernel is \[ K^p(x_p, \dots,x_1)=\text{Tr}(\delta_{x_p}*\cdots*\delta_{x_1}). \] Then after computing the vertex contribution of a graph (Lemma 4.1), contribution of two endpoints of a loop line on the rosette is computed to be \[ \int\,dy_1\,dy_2 K^p(y_p, \dots,y_2,y_1)\delta(y_2-y_1)=\int\,dy_1\,dy_2\,du (\delta_{y_p}*\cdots* \delta_{y_3})(u)(\delta_{y_2}*\delta_{y_1})(u) \delta(y_2y_1). \] By this calculation, the divergent part of this contribution is extracted to be \[ \begin{multlined}\int\,dy_1\,dy_2 (\delta_{y_2}*\delta_{y_1})(u)\delta(y_2-y_1)\\ =\frac{1} {\theta^{\dim\mathbb{S}}}\int^\infty_{-\infty}\,dx_y\int^\infty_{-\infty}dz_y \int^\infty_{-\infty}da_yd\cosh (2a_y)[(\cosh(a_y)]^{\frac{\dim\mathbb{S}-2}{2}}. \end{multlined} \] Therefore it is renormalizable (Lemma 4.2). Program of concrete process of renormalization is presented in \S6, the last section. The vulcanized Laplacian kernel is the generator of a representation of the metaplectic group. This is expalined in \S5 [cf. \textit{L. Van Hove}, ``Sur certain représentations unitaire d'un groupe infini de transformations''. Acad. Roy. Belgique Cl. Sci. Mém. Collect. \(8^\circ\) 26, No. 6, 102 p. (1951; Zbl 0045.38701)]. This paper also contains explicit computations of \(\mathbb{S}\), LS duality, and so on in the case \(n=1\), i.e. the case \(\mathbb{D}\) is the hyperbolic plane, to illustrate the discussions of the paper.
