The authors study local ergodicity of hyperbolic systems with singularities with the aim to investigate multidimensional uniformly hyperbolic systems, in particular multidimensional dispersing billiards. The results of the work [\textit{Ya. G. Sinai}, Russ. Math. Surveys 25, 137--189 (1970; Zbl 0263.58011)] are generalized to a multi-dimensional hyperbolic setting, that allows to prove local-ergodicity for a class of multidimensional dispersing billiards (independent proof with the article [\textit{N. Chernov}, J. Stat. Phys. 94, 513--556 (1999; Zbl 1047.37503)]).
