On a Finsler manifold the quantity \(H\), defined as the covariant derivative of the Berwald mean curvature, is considered. A relation between this non-Riemannian quantity (i.e. a quantity that vanishes in the case of a Riemann manifold) and Riemannian curvature terms is established. It is shown that all \(R\)-quadratic Finsler metrics have vanishing \(H\).
