Following a question of K. Borsuk concerning the notion of the shape of compacta:``does there exist for every \(sh(X)\neq 1\) a prime factor'' and proving the result ``the class of shapes of compact, connected, metrizable, abelian topological groups is closed under shape domination'' the author proves that there exists a continuum \(X\) with non trivial shape without any prime factor. It is also proved that for each integer \(n\geq 3\) there exists a continuum \(X\) such that \(shX=sh^{n}X\) but \( shX\neq sh^{n-1}X\). So, the answer for another question of K. Borsuk ``does \(sh(X,x)=sh^{n}(X,x)\) for a compactum \(X\) and some integer \(n\geq 3\) imply that \(sh(X,x)=sh^{2}(X,x)\)'' is negative.
