The authors examine the title problem by using the classical laminated plate theory based on Kirchhoff hypothesis. But this theory is inaccurate for laminated composite plates with relatively soft transverse shear modulus, and for highly anisotropic composites due to the neglecting of transverse shear strain and transverse normal strain in the laminates. Thus the authors must use a quadratic interpolation function in the plate thickness direction in order to derive the dynamical equations of free vibrations. The theory is applied to a simply supported viscoelastic laminated rectangular plate.
