For almost every \(u=(u_1,u_2,u_3)\in\mathbb R_+^3\) define \(F(u_1,u_2,u_3)=(u'_1,u'_2,u'_3)\) where if \(u_i\geq u_j\geq u_k\) then \(u'_i=u_i-u_j-b(u)u_k\), \(u'_j=u_j\) and \(u'_k=u_k\) with \(b(u)=\bigl[\frac{u_i-u_j}{u_k}\bigr]\). Denote by \(\|\cdot\|\) the \(l^1\)-norm, \(\|u\|=u_1+u_2+u_3\). Consider the set~\(S\) of vectors \(u\in\mathbb R_+^3\) with \(\|u\|=1\) such that \(u_1\geq u_2\geq u_3\) or \(u_2\geq u_3\geq u_1\) or \(u_3\geq u_1\geq u_2\). For \(u\in S\) define \(f(u)=\frac{F(u)}{\|F(u)\|}\). For \(u\in S\) call the sequence \(u_k=f^k(u)\) the triangle sequence. The authors show that for Lebesgue almost every \(u\in\mathbb R_+^3\) with \(\|u\|=1\) the triangle sequence is weakly convergent at~\(u\). This follows from another result proved, that for Lebesgue almost every \(u\in S\) one has \(b(u_k)\) infinitely often.
