The hyperplane conjecture suggests a positive answer to the following question: is there a universal constant \(c\geq 0\), such that for any dimension \(n\) and for any convex set \(\mathcal{K}\subset \mathbb{R}^n\) of volume one, there exists at least one hyperplane \(\mathcal{H}\subset \mathbb{R}^n\) with \(\mathrm{Vol}_{n-1}(\mathcal{K}\cap\mathcal{H})>c?\) Large classes of convex bodies (unconditional convex bodies, zonoids, dual to zonoids, bodies with a bounded outer volume ratio, unit balls of Schatten norms and others) give affermative answer to the above question. The authors prove that with high probability the isotropic constant of \(\mathcal{K}\) is bounded by a universal constant. They also verify the hyperplane conjecture for the class of gaussian random polytopes.
