The author establishes an isoperimetric inequality for the normalized volume measure \(V_{p,n}\) on the unit ball \(\ell_p^n\) in \(\ell_p\)-norm, \(1\leq p\leq 2\). If \(V_{p,n}^+\) denotes the associated surface measure then for all sets \(A\) of volume \(V_{p,n}(A)=a\) it holds that \(V_{p,n}^+(A)\geq c n^{1/p} \tilde a \log^{1-(1/p)} (1/\tilde a)\) where \(\tilde a = \min(a,1-a)\). The proof for the case of `small' sets is based on an isoperimetric inequality of \textit{S. Bobkov} [Ann. Probab. 27, No. 4, 1903--1921 (1999; Zbl 0964.60013)]. For the case of `big' sets a representation of \(V_{p,n}\) as image of a product measure is a basic tool which allows a comparison to the product case.
