The author proves the following result: Let \(F\) be a totally real number field and \(E_1,\dots ,E_r\) elliptic curves defined over \(F\). Then there exists a totally real extension \(F'\) of \(F\) such that the elliptic curves \(E_i|_{F'}\) all are modular. Since this is known for CM-curves for any totally real \(F'\supseteq F\) one can discard these and suppose that none of the \(E_i\) has CM. The proof then consists in using density results for all prime-numbers \(\ell\) such that all \(E_i\) are ordinary at all primes \(v\) dividing \(\ell\), invoking a proposition similar to a potential modularity result by \textit{R. Taylor} [J. Inst. Math. Jussieu 1, No. 1, 125--143 (2002; Zbl 1047.11051)] and afterwards checking the hypothesis for a Theorem of \textit{C. M. Skinner} and \textit{A. J. Wiles} [Ann. Fac. Sci. Toulouse, VI. Sér., Math. 10, No. 1, 185--215 (2001; Zbl 1024.11036)]. At the end, an application of the theorem is given by deriving certain analytic properties of some arithmetically defined \(L\)-functions.
