The article deals with the following iteration \[ x_n = \alpha_nx_{n-1} + (1 - \alpha_n)T_nx_n \qquad (x_0 \in K, \;n \geq 1), \] where \(\{T_n\}_{n=1}^\infty\) is a sequence of continuous pseudocontractive mappings on a closed convex subset \(K\) of a real Banach space \(E\), \(\{\alpha_n\}_{n=1}^\infty\) is a real sequence in \((0,1)\). Let \(F = \bigcap_{n=1}^\infty F(T_n) \neq \emptyset\). Then (Theorem 2.2) \(\lim_{n \to \infty} \;\|x_n - p\|\) exists for all \(p \in F\); \(\lim d(x_n,F)\) exists; \(\{x_n\}\) converges to a common fixed point of \(\{T_n\}_{n=1}^\infty\) if and only if \(\liminf_{n \to \infty} \;d(x_n,F) = 0\). Further, if the norm in \(E\) is Fréchet differentiable, \(\{T_n\}_{n=1}^\infty\) is a sequence \(L_n\)-Lipschitzian pseudocontractive mappings, \(\sum_{n=1}^\infty (L_n - 1) < \infty\), \(\alpha_n \leq b < 1\), \((1 - \alpha_n)L_n \leq \eta < 1\), and \(z_{n+1} - T_nz_n \to 0\) implies \(z_n - T_mz_n \to 0\) for all \(m \in {\mathbb N}\), then (Theorem 2.5) \(x_n \rightharpoonup p\) for some \(p \in F\). In the last part of the article it is considered the weak and strong convergence for the iteration \[ x_n = \alpha_nx_{n-1} + (1 - \alpha_n) \sum_{k=1}^n \beta_n^k S_kx_n, \qquad (x_0 \in K, \;n \geq 1) \] with \(\lambda_k\)-strictly pseudocontractive mappings \(\{S_n\}_{n=1}^\infty\).
