The article refers to the classical Cauchy problem for a homogeneous wave equation with a time dependent propagation speed \(a(t)\). In case \(a(t)\) belongs to some Gevrey class and satisfies a so called stabilization property -- introduced by the author in a previous article [Math. Ann. 339, No. 4, 819--838 (2007; Zbl 1132.35054)] -- an improved form for the energy estimates is shown.
