The set of solutions of Volterra and Urysohn integral equations in Banach spaces (Q990322): Difference between revisions

The author provides existence theorems for solutions of the nonlinear integral equations, known as Urysohn and Volterra type. The basic difference with the existing literature consists in the feature that the integral is taken here in the sense of Henstock-Kurzweil-Pettis. The equations are: Urysohn integral equation \[ x(t)= \varphi(t)+ \lambda\int^\alpha_0 f(t,s,x(s))\,ds,\quad t\in I_\alpha,\;\alpha,\lambda\in \mathbb{R}_+, \] Volterra integral equation \[ x(t)=\varphi(t)+ \int^t_0 f(t,s,x(s))\,ds,\quad t\in I_\alpha,\;\alpha\in \mathbb{R}_+, \] where \(f: I_\alpha\times I_\alpha\times E\to E\), \(\varphi: I_\alpha\to E\) and \(x: I_\alpha\to E\); \(I_\alpha= [0,\alpha]\), \(E=\) real Banach space. Several tools are necessary to carry out the delicate analysis of the problem, among which we mention the measure of noncompactness, the fixed point theorem due to \textit{J. Kubiaczyk} [Discuss. Math., Differ. Incl. 15, No.~1, 15--20 (1995; Zbl 0832.47046)] for weakly sequentially continuous mappings. A rich list of references contains significant contributions brought by many authors during the last two decades.
