This short paper begins with a good summary of known results on the characterization of integrals as linear functionals from the discovery of Riemann-Stieltjes integrals, through Radon's theorem for the space of all Lebesgue-Radon integrals on the space of continuous functions on a compact subspace of \(\mathbb R^n\), to the problem of extending Radon's theorem from \(\mathbb R^n\) to more general topological spaces with Radon measures. This last problem is called Riesz-Radon-Fréchet problem of characterization of integrals. The main theorem of the paper presents a solution to this last problem with suitable definitions which are too involved to quote here.
