Starting from the 2D \(t-t'-V\) model that describes spinless fermions on a square lattice with nearest-neighbor and next-nearest-neighbor hopping constants \(t\) and \(t^{\prime}\), respectively, and with the nearest-neighbor density-density interaction strength \(V/2\), a 2D Luttinger model is derived. This derivation utilizes a particular continuum limit that is justified by physical arguments. It is shown that the effective model thus obtained can be treated by exact bosonization methods.
