In recent years, several authors have generalized the so-called \textit{J. Thomae} formulas [Borchardt J. LXXI. 201--222 (1870; JFM 02.0244.01)] with a view to applications to PDE, theoretical physics and even computational number theory. Most of these contributions are now contained in [\textit{H. M. Farkas, S. Zemel}, Generalizations of Thomae's formula for \(Z_n\) curves. Developments in Mathematics 21. Berlin: Springer. (2011; Zbl 1222.14001)]. In the present article, the author deals with general cyclic covers of \(\mathbb{P}^1\) of the form \[ X: y^N = \prod_{i=1}^m (x-\lambda_i)^{R_i} \] such that \(\sum_{i=1}^m R_i \equiv 0 \pmod{N}\) and \((R_i,N)=1\). He follows the main idea of \textit{A. Nakayashiki} [Publ. Res. Inst. Math. Sci. 33, No. 6, 987--1015 (1997; Zbl 0921.14016)] to produce an integrable differential equation that describes the variation of the logarithm of the theta function with respect to the branch points. In contrast to \textit{D. G. Ebin} and \textit{H. M. Farkas} [J. Anal. Math. 111, 289-320 (2010 ; Zbl 1215.14030)], where only the quotient of two Thetanullwerte to a certain power is computed, the author obtains the value of a Thetanullwert in terms of a part of a period matrix and the branch points, up to a constant. Note that in a preprint, Matsumoto and Terasoma are able to determined this constant for a special choice of basis of homology and differentials in the case of triple non-singular covers of \(\mathbb{P}^1\).
