The author studies the Cauchy problem for a hyperbolic-parabolic system \[ u''+Lu(t)+M\theta(t)=f_1(t),\quad \theta'(t)+L_2\theta(t)+Nu'(t)=f_2(t),\quad t\in [0,T], \] \[ u(0)=u^0,\quad u'(0)=u^1,\quad \theta(0)=\theta^0 \] with unbounded self-adjoint positive definite operators \(L_1, L_2\) acting in Hilbert spaces \(H_1\) and \(H_2\) with domains \(D_1\) and \(D_2\) respectively. The domains of the operators \(L_i^{1/2}\) are \(V_i\), \(i=1,2.\) The linear operators \(M, N\) are acting from \(D(M)\) to \(H_1\) and from \(D(N)\) to \(H_2\), where \(D(M)\) and \(D(N)\) are linear spaces such that \(D_2\subset D(M)\), \(V_1\subset D(N)\). The problem in its abstract setting generalizes a number of linear coupled thermoelasticity problems. The author establishes the results on the high smoothness of the solution with respect to time as well as with respect to the spatial variables under appropriate smoothness conditions on the right-hand side and data coordination conditions.
