The paper under review is a continuation of a previous joint paper (with A. B. Goncharov). There the authors constructed the motivic fundamental group of rational schemes (over number fields). The motives in question are mixed Tate motives so their theory (at least with rational coefficients) is known thanks to Borel. The Taniyama group of mixed Tate motives acts on the motivic fundamental group and on its torsors relating different tangential base points. In this paper it is shown that in some cases the action is faithful. The proof uses reduction modulo 2 or 3. As a corollary we get linear relations between multiple zeta values. It is conjectured that these generate all relations.
