The paper deals with the calculation of the volume of a spherical and a hyperbolic tetrahedron. The results are given in the following theorems. Theorem 1. There exists a one-parameter family of spherical tetrahedron with different volumes whose Gram matrices have the same determinant. Theorem 2. There exists a one-parameter family of hyperbolic tetrahedra with different volumes whose Gram matrices have the same determinant. Theorem 3. The volume of an ideal hyperbolic tetrahedron can be expressed as a function of the determinant and the permanent of its Gram matrix provided that this tetrahedron is either acute-angled or obtuse-angled.
