A non-linear integral equation (that is equation (1) of the paper), which involves positive almost periodic functions, have remained a source of motivation to structure the present paper. Authors have constructed a new fixed-point theorem with respect to the mixed monotone operators, which incidentally overcome the restrictions of earlier work of the first author and \textit{R. Yuan}, J. Math. Anal. Appl. 304, No. 1, 249--268 (2005; Zbl 1074.45007)], that is these monotone operators are limited to deal with homogeneous nonlinearities. Section 3 of the paper investigates the existence and uniqueness of the positive almost periodic solutions to the integral equation (Eq (1)). Applications of the theorems, derived in the present paper, are given in Section 4.
