A new scheme for the approximation functions, depending on 3 or 4 variables, by sums of products of functions, depending on 1 variable, is analyzed. This method is based on the adaptive cross approximation (ACA). ACA was first investigated for the functions depending on 2 variables. The linear complexity of the schemes is demonstrated in this work.
