Suppose \((M,\mathcal F)\) is a smoothly foliated manifold. Let \(\Omega^*(M/\mathcal F)\) be a version for the de Rham complex of the leaf space and \(\Omega_b^*(M,\mathcal F)\) the complex of forms \(\omega\) which are base-like for \(\mathcal F\), ie for any vector field \(X\) tangent to \(\mathcal F\) we have \(i_X\omega=0\) and \(i_Xd\omega=0\). Then the projection \(p:M\to M/\mathcal F\) induces an isomorphism \(p^*:\Omega^*(M/\mathcal F)\to\Omega_b^*(M,\mathcal F)\). Hence the de Rham cohomology \(H^*(M/\mathcal F)\) is isomorphic to \(H_b^*(M,\mathcal F)\).
