Initiating the discussion with some existing definitions like those of generalized topological spaces, \(g\)-semi-open sets, \(g\)-pre-open sets and others in generalized topological spaces and some mappings with generalized topological spaces as domains and co-domains, the authors introduce the concept of \(g\)-\(\alpha\)-irresolute functions. As usual, characterization theorems are enunciated. The relationship with some other previously introduced mappings is depicted diagrammatically. Examples are provided to justify those cases when the converse implications do not hold. \(g\)-\(\alpha\)-irresolute mappings are utilized to show the invariance of \(\alpha\)-connectedness and \(\alpha\)-compactness in the perspective of generalized topological spaces.
