For a nonlinear degenerate elliptic system (so called \(H\)-system) with initial-boundary conditions the existence of a global ``small'' weak solution is proved. Its time asymptotic behavior is analyzed. A stability result for weak solutions of higher dimensional \(H\)-systems is obtained.
