For two given polynomials, the authors study the interpolation problem of meeting provided function values at the zeros of one of the said polynomials and meeting provided derivative values at the zeros of the other polynomial. All of the aforementioned zeros are assumed to be simple, but the two polynomials need not have the same degree. The solution to the problem must be a polynomial whose degree is the sum of the degrees of the two other polynomials reduced by one. In this paper, conditions are given which ensure that this interpolation problem is regular. The two polynomiales need not, of course, be the same, but if they are, this is a well-known Hermite-Birkhoff interpolation problem.
